On a great night of celebration at North Harbour Hockey and LEP, we witnessed some great hockey take place as the 2024 season came to an end.
We started off at North Harbour in our 3 v 4 premier game of Westlake Boys High School v Auckland Grammar. Auckland Grammar got out to an early 2-0 lead and were able to retain this for the remainder of the match with the final score being 2-0.
Into our second match of the evening our A1 Final between Westlake Boys High School 2Xl and Pakuranga College 1Xl. This was one thrilling game starting of early with the exchange of goals to be 1-1. No one could break the defence of the other in the second half and ended up 1-1. We headed into penalty shootouts and it was 3-3 after the first 5 were taken. Sudden death was next and Westlake Boys scored crowning them the champions of A1 2024.
The last game of the evening was our Premier Boys Final held at LEP between King’s College and Saint Kentigern College. The atmosphere was electic and there were plenty supporters from both schools cherring them on. King’s got out to an early lead in the first quarter going up 2-0 and were able to hang on for the remainder of the match with the final score being 2-0. It was one great game of hockey to watch and all the players giving it their all going for every 50/50 ball making it a contest you didn’y want to look away from.
